ANALYSIS: Perez came onto the scene with some pretty strong outings. He probably looked extremely tantalizing when he pitched 6 innings of one run ball against the Dodgers a few weeks ago. He struck out seven in the game and only walked one, despite allowing seven hits.
There was a bit of a red flag in his next start as he walked four Giants, but he got the win, didn't allow a run, and only gave up 4 hits so all was forgiven. However, Perez struggled against the Pirates, and there are some stats that make me think he isn't quite rosterable yet.
Perez has an 8.53 K/9, but his strikeout upside is cancelled out a bit by a dismal 1.58 WHIP, and a 5.33 BB/9 ratio. Keep an eye on him for sure because he could have some value if he cuts down on the free passes. Until he gets that issue fixed, I would let him sit on the wire.
