The year's first major championship is just around the corner, as the golf world is set to once again turn its eyes to Augusta National Golf Club for the 2023 Masters tournament on April 6.
The Masters is, famously, a tradition unlike any other, that is held in a special place of reverence by both golf fans and the world's most elite players. Make no mistake, winning a green jacket is life-changing and a dream of every golfer teeing it up in this year's edition of the tournament.
Winning the Masters gets you a spot in the field for a lifetime, but if you aren't a former champion, this is a very tough field to qualify for. Will Zalatoris has no such worries, as he earned his spot in the 2023 Masters thanks to his victory in last year's FedEx St. Jude Championship, as well as other qualifiers.

Will Zalatoris' Masters Odds
Below are Will Zalatoris' current odds for winning the 2023 Masters:
- DraftKings Sportsbook: +2500
- FanDuel Sportsbook: +3400
- BetMGM Sportsbook: +3300
Will Zalatoris' Recent Form
Shortly after securing the first PGA Tour victory of his promising career at the 2022 FedEx St. Jude Championship, Zalatoris was forced to shut it down for the year due to a back injury. The Wake Forest alum missed the season-ending Tour Championship, as well as the President's Cup with the issue.
The wiry, ball-striking prodigy returned to action in January of this year, but outside of popping for a T4 at the Genesis Invitational, has yet to regain his form of the last 18 months and has now failed to record a top-50 result in any of his last three starts.
Zalatoris' normally-elite ball striking hasn't been as crisp in 2023 and he's lost strokes Tee To Green in two of his last four starts. His short game has been even more concerning, as he lost a gargantuan 6.8 strokes putting at THE PLAYERS Championship and displayed a spooky-bad, yip-like putting stroke on occasion at the recent Dell Match Play.
Will Zalatoris' Masters Record
The young star's track record at Augusta National Golf Club isn't lengthy but is extremely impressive. Zalatoris has made two Masters starts in his career, finishing runner-up to Hideki Matsuyama in his 2021 debut and posting a T6 in last year's edition.
In eight career rounds at Augusta National, the 26-year-old has shot par or better on seven occasions. His prodigious length off the tee and sniper-like iron play have made him a force to be reckoned with both at Augusta National and other major championship venues, as he's logged three runner-up finishes and a total of six top-10s in just 10 career starts in majors.
Will Zalatoris' 2023 Masters Outlook
When we consider that Zalatoris probably exited 2022 as one of the favorites for the 2023 Masters, it sure feels as though his prospects for Augusta have nosedived as the season has progressed.
There have undoubtedly been some lingering effects from the back injury that ended his 2022 campaign, as he closed last season ranked first on the PGA Tour in Strokes Gained: Tee To Green and currently ranks 31st in the same statistical category this year.
In addition to the notable decline in his ball striking, Zalatoris' already-shaky putting stroke appears to have deteriorated even more over the last several weeks, which is not ideal as he heads to the lightning-fast greens of Augusta National. As public sentiment surrounding him seems to be at an all-time low, there's an interesting argument for "buying low" on the talented youngster.
