Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Tyler Lockett has been a mainstay of fantasy football for years, scoring more than eight touchdowns for five years straight (2018-2022) and recording 1,000 receiving yards for four consecutive years (2019-2022).
Lockett has been incredibly trustworthy at outplaying his ADP and being a steady presence in starting lineups, delivering WR2/Flex-worthy numbers.
Unfortunately, Lockett is now dealing with an injury and his status is up in the air. What's the situation with Lockett's injury? Let's dive into the details.

Will Lockett Play This Season?
There is little doubt that Lockett will play this season. Lockett's injury was undisclosed for several days. However, now we know Lockett is tending to a thigh injury. Thigh injuries typically do not cause a player to miss an entire season. All indications are that his injury is relatively minor.
There are several specific injuries that this could be, but Lockett managers should be thankful he's not tending to something known to be more severe.
Will Tyler Lockett Play In Week 1?
Lockett's Week 1 status is up in the air. Luckily for Lockett managers, he expressed confidence that he will play in Week 1, when the Seahawks take on the Broncos.
Tyler Lockett, out the last 2+ weeks with a leg issue, says yeah, he’s playing in #Seahawks’ opener Sunday vs Broncos.
“It’s a blessing, to me, to be in year 10,” the WR says. “The average (career) is, what, 3 1/2 years? I’m almost 3 times that.”

Additionally, Seahawks head coach Mike Macdonald has indicated that Lockett is expected to play in Week 1.

Barring a setback, Lockett owners can assume he will be good go-to in Week 1. As with any injury, though, a setback is always possible, and managers should keep updated on his situation.
Tyler Lockett 2024 Fantasy Outlook
While Lockett has been "Steady Eddie" in terms of reliability as a fantasy scorer, he's entering his age 31 season, and a fall-off in production is inevitable at some point. It seems likely that fellow WR Jaxon Smith-Njigba could have a bigger role this year, and with DK Metcalf still in his prime, Lockett could see fewer targets.
Lockett could be a reliable flex or WR3 in 2024, but with each coming year, the age cliff looms closer. A slight regression from his 2023 numbers is highly plausible, and managers should have a backup plan in case his injury hampers his play or he loses some of the quickness that's made him a fantasy asset in recent years.
For now, Lockett should still produce decent numbers, but it's good to have other options for your starting lineup outside of deeper leagues.
