Jacksonville Jaguars running back Travis Etienne has been one of the biggest disappointments of the 2024 fantasy season. After going relatively early in drafts, Etienne has been banged up with injuries and has just 56 rushes for 230 yards and two touchdowns to go with 16 receptions for 91 yards on the season. Woof.
Etienne missed the Jaguars Week 7 contest against the New England Patriots in London and his fellow teammate, Tank Bigsby ran absolutely wild, which only further complicates things for Etienne in fantasy going forward.
Etienne is suffering from a hamstring injury and has only managed limited practices all week against the Jaguars Week 8 matchup against the Green Bay Packers. So, should we expect to see Etienne out there in Week 8?

Travis Etienne Fantasy Football Injury Update
UPDATE: Etienne is officially OUT for Week 8
Now, Etienne's status is a bit dicey as he’s been limited in practice all week, mirroring last week’s routine before he was ultimately sidelined on game day. He’s slapped with a game-time decision tag for this week, but my gut says he might take another week off.
Even if Etienne does gear up, he might just share passing downs with D'Ernest Johnson or be on a restricted snap count, leaving Tank Bigsby to dominate the early-down work. If Etienne does play, you might want to keep him benched just to be safe.
Jake Funk elevated is another indication Travis Etienne is unlikely to play vs. the #Packers. Unlike last week game script is not in Tank Bigsby’s favor. He’s more TD dependent this week.
I’d actually feel better about D’Ernest Johnson in a likely pass-heavy game plan. #Jaguars https://t.co/pUtjUHELW8

Travis Etienne Fantasy Football Injury Impact
Tank Bigsby has been tearing it up for the Jacksonville Jaguars, stepping up big-time due to Etienne's injury woes. Across the season, Bigsby has bulldozed his way to 415 yards and four touchdowns on 67 carries. However, his hands haven’t been quite as busy as he's only snagged one catch on two targets for 28 yards.
There’s a silver lining: his role in the passing game saw a boost in Week 7, where he was involved in nearly half of those plays. This uptick suggests Bigsby might be morphing into a more versatile back.
#Jaguars HC Doug Pederson on whether Tank Bigsby will replace Travis Etienne as RB1:
“I don’t think so. I’m a believer where injury doesn’t replace your position. I think you have to have a fair competition… It’s still [Etienne’s] job. But Tank has done some really good things,… pic.twitter.com/UczAjywZg4

If Etienne is ruled out, Bigsby becomes a must-start in all formats. On the flip side, Etienne feels like someone worth benching in fantasy for Week 8 until we get a better handle on how this backfield is going to look going forward.
