The 2022 NFL Draft is a few weeks away, and the rumor mill is on fire. Many believe the first two picks will be quarterbacks. Therefore the draft starts with the third overall pick.
Currently, the Arizona Cardinals have the third overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. However, they are reportedly open to trading away the pick. Meanwhile, the Indianapolis Colts have the fourth overall pick and a massive need at quarterback.
Therefore, any quarterback-needy team might need to trade for the third overall pick, as the Colts could take their target one pick later. One potential trade partner for the Cardinals is the Seattle Seahawks.

Will The Seahawks Trade Up For The No. 3 Pick?
Last year the Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos for a bounty of draft picks. One of those picks was the Broncos’ first-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Fortunately for Seattle, that pick is the fifth overall selection.
Meanwhile, the Seahawks re-signed Geno Smith to a three-year deal this offseason after the quarterback had an impressive 2022 season. However, the team can get out of the contract next offseason, saving $13.8 million ins salary cap space.
Furthermore, the team must wonder if Smith can repeat what he did last year or if it was a one-year fluke. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Seattle is reportedly interested in trading up in the draft for a quarterback. Many believe their top target is Anthony Richardson.
What Could A Potential Trade Deal Look Like For The Seahawks?
The Seahawks have 10 picks this year, giving them plenty of draft capital to trade up for the third overall pick. They have two selections in the top 20 picks and four in the top 52. However, Seattle might have trouble trading up with Arizona.
Typically division rivals don’t trade with one another for fear of how it will hurt them down the road. If the Cardinals trade the third overall pick to the Seahawks, it must be a massive package of draft capital. Seattle could draft an elite quarterback, and Arizona would have to face that quarterback twice a year for the next 12 or more years.
While it might be difficult, these two teams can get a deal done. The Cardinals have several holes on their roster and need as many draft picks as possible. Seattle might have to overpay to secure the No. 3 overall pick, but it’s worth the cost if the quarterback they pick turns into a superstar.
A trade package of both Seattle's first-round picks and the 37th overall selection should be enough to get Arizona to trade away the No. 3 overall pick to the divisional rival Seahawks.
