The 2023 NFL Draft is less than 72 hours away. While the Carolina Panthers will take Bryce Young with the first overall pick, where will the other first-round quarterbacks land on Thursday night?
One potential landing spot is the Seattle Seahawks. They had a 9-8 record last season with Geno Smith under center. The team re-signed the veteran quarterback this offseason. However, the contract allows the Seahawks to release Smith next year if he regresses.
Therefore, it’s no surprise that Seattle will consider a quarterback with the fifth overall pick. However, will they pull the trigger on a quarterback Thursday night?

Will The Seahawks Take A Quarterback In The First Round?
Reportedly the Seahawks are very interested in Florida’s Anthony Richardson. The former Gator has limited starting experience but outstanding raw tools. Many scouts believe Richardson needs to spend his rookie year learning from the bench. The good news for Seattle is that Smith can start next year before handing the starting role to Richardson in 2024.
Another potential target is Ohio State’s C.J. Stroud. The former Buckeye was a likely top-two pick a few weeks ago. However, the latest reports suggest Stroud could be on the board when the Seahawks pick fifth overall.
Meanwhile, Seattle doesn’t have to take a quarterback with the fifth overall pick Thursday night. The team also has the 20th overall selection and could target a quarterback with that pick. One potential target with that pick is Tennessee’s Hendon Hooker.
The former Volunteer quarterback suffered a torn ACL late last season. Yet, he reportedly should be ready for Week 1. However, the Seahawks won’t have to rush him back with Smith under contract.
What Other Players Could The Seahawks Draft In The First Round?
Regardless of which pick the team uses on a quarterback, they will have the other first-round selection to add an impact player. Many believe Seattle will select a quarterback with the fifth overall pick unless Alabama’s Will Anderson is still available.
The Seahawks are reportedly very high on Anderson. They also brought the former Alabama star in for a visit late last week.
Things can change on draft night, as one surprise pick can throw everyone’s plans out the window. However, my money is on the Seahawks using the fifth pick on Richardson or Stroud unless Anderson is still on the board.
