After getting traded by the Detroit Lions, Matthew Stafford won the Super Bowl in his first season with the Los Angeles Rams. However, the season following the Super Bowl run didn't go according to plan for the Rams and Stafford.
They finished the season with a poor record of 5-12, and the veteran quarterback missed a significant number of games due to injury. The Rams traded away Jalen Ramsey in the ongoing offseason, and there are reports about the franchise trying to part ways with their quarterback as well.
In this article, we will discuss whether the Rams will trade Stafford or not and the impact that could have on fantasy football managers.

Are the Rams shopping Matthew Stafford?
According to former NFL general manager Michael Lombardi, the Los Angeles Rams approached teams earlier this offseason about trading Matthew Stafford. The 2022 Super Bowl champions wanted to get rid of the 35-year-old quarterback's massive contract, but no team was willing to take on that kind of money.
The Rams signed Stafford to a four-year, $160 million contract extension after winning the Super Bowl, but given how things went last season, the team was willing to take a different approach. Stafford dealing with spinal cord contusion played a significant role in this, as many believe he will never be able to play well again.
With Caleb Williams available in the draft next year, the Rams could attempt to tank for the USC quarterback, and trading away the former Lions quarterback would have certainly aided their quest.
What to expect from Matthew Stafford in the 2023 season?
Although Sean McVay stated that Matthew Stafford's spinal cord contusion will not require surgery, no one knows how Stafford will perform next season. Many speculated that the Rams quarterback would retire, but he has decided to continue playing.
Stafford could play well now that Cooper Kupp is healthy, but it all depends on his health. If he is injured again, the Rams may tank aggressively to get Caleb Williams or Drake Maye in next year's draft
Last season, Stafford played just nine games and threw for 2,087 yards, and 10 touchdowns with eight interceptions. He had a passer rating of 87.4 which he would like to improve on in the upcoming season.
