The 2023 NFL Draft is only a few days away, and the rumor mill is on fire. While the Carolina Panthers will take Alabama’s Bryce Young with the first overall pick, we have no idea where the other first-round quarterbacks will land.
One potential landing spot is the Detroit Lions. The team had a 9-8 record last season with Jared Goff under center. The former No. 1 overall pick had a productive year, completing 65.1% of his pass attempts for 4,438 yards and 29 touchdowns.
Despite coming off a solid 2022 season, the Lions will consider a quarterback with the sixth overall pick. The only question is, which quarterback could they draft?

Will The Lions Take C.J. Stroud If Available At The No. 6 Pick?
A few weeks ago, no one would have thought Stroud would still be on the board when the Lions pick at sixth overall. However, the latest rumors and reports suggest the Houston Texans will pass on the former Ohio State quarterback.
Yet, that doesn’t mean Stroud will be available when Detroit is on the clock. The Indianapolis Colts (picking fourth) and Seattle Seahawks (picking fifth) have picks ahead of the Lions and a need at quarterback.
While the team has done its homework on the top quarterbacks in the draft, many believe the team will stick with Goff and instead up the sixth overall pick at another position.
What Other Players Could The Lions Take With The No. 6 Pick?
One potential target is Georgia’s defensive lineman Jalen Carter. The team has done plenty of research on the former Bulldog superstar. While he has some off-the-field concerns, many believe Carter won’t slide past the Lions at sixth overall.
However, what will the team do if Carter is off the board? Ideally, Alabama’s Will Anderson or Texas Tech’s Tyree Wilson is available when Detroit is on the clock. The Lions would love to land one of the two elite edge rusher prospects if Carter isn’t available.
Unfortunately, there is a scenario where all three defensive linemen are off the board when the team is on the clock. The Houston Texans, Arizona Cardinals, and Seattle Seahawks could select those three defensive star prospects, leaving Detroit with a decision. Do they take a quarterback like Stroud or draft one of the top cornerback prospects?
