New York Jets wide receiver Denzel Mims was a second-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. He had 186 receptions for 2,925 receiving yards and 28 touchdowns at Baylor.
However, Mims’ NFL career has been a disappointment. The young wide receiver had a solid rookie season, totaling 23 receptions on 44 targets for 357 receiving yards. Sadly, things went sideways from there.
Mims has totaled only 19 receptions on 48 targets for 319 receiving yards and zero touchdowns in 21 games over the past two years. Unfortunately, the former Baylor wide receiver hasn’t had the chance to show his talent in the NFL.

Will The Jets Release Denzel Mims?
The young wide receiver asked for a trade or his release last offseason. Yet, the Jets held onto Mims despite using multiple draft picks on wide receivers the past two years. However, that might change this offseason.
New York made several moves at wide receiver this offseason, including trading away Elijah Moore. The team did sign Allen Lazard and Mecole Hardman in free agency. More importantly, head coach Robert Saleh recently said the Jets won’t release Corey Davis. The veteran wide receiver was supposed to be part of the Aaron Rodgers trade. However, Green Bay didn’t want Davis in the deal.
Furthermore, the team recently signed Randall Cobb in free agency. That means the top five wide receivers' spots are locked in place. Wilson, Lazard, and Hardman will be the starting trio. Meanwhile, Davis and Cobb will be the top two reserves. Therefore, Mims likely won't be on the roster come Week 1.
Which Team Would Be The Best Fit For Denzel Mims?
The young wide receiver has only 42 career receptions during the regular season. However, Mims has flashed potential in his NFL career. The former Baylor star was a force during the 2022 preseason, totaling 12 receptions on 17 targets for 170 receiving yards and a touchdown.
While he is entering the final year of his contract, the Jets should be able to trade Mims for a Day 3 draft pick. The best potential landing spot for Mims is the Los Angles Rams.
Cooper Kupp is arguably the top wide receiver in the NFL. However, the Rams traded away Robert Woods and Allen Robinson over the past two offseasons, leaving their wide receiver unit thin behind Kupp. Furthermore, the team waited until the fifth round of the 2023 NFL Draft to select a wide receiver. Mims would have the opportunity needed to showcase his talent in Los Angeles.
