Miami Dolphins wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. was a sixth-round pick by the Dallas Cowboys in the 2018 NFL Draft. Wilson had a productive college career, totaling 139 receptions for 2,640 receiving yards and 18 touchdowns during his two years at Boise State.
Unfortunately, his NFL career got off to a slow start. The young receiver didn’t have his first reception into the 2019 season. He had five receptions on eight targets for 46 receiving yards that year. Meanwhile, he had a solid 2020 season, totaling 17 receptions on 28 targets for 189 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
However, Wilson earned more snaps the following year. The former Boise State receiver had 45 receptions on 61 targets for 602 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 2021, all career highs. Then he signed a three-year deal worth over $22 million with the Dolphins last offseason.

What Did Cedrick Wilson Jr. Accomplish Last Season?
Despite signing a significant contract with Miami, the veteran wide receiver had a limited impact last year. Most of the targets went to Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle, leaving Wilson with few opportunities. However, the former Boise State receiver did have 12 receptions on 18 targets for 136 receiving yards last season, including a few impressive catches.
Will The Dolphins Trade Or Release Cedrick Wilson Jr.?
Despite having arguably the best 1-2 combination at wide receiver, the Dolphins added multiple veterans this offseason, adding Chosen Anderson and Braxton Berrios in free agency. Therefore, it’s no surprise that Wilson’s name has come up in trade rumors. However, the veteran wide receiver wants to remain with the Dolphins.
Unfortunately, the former Boise State wide receiver lacks fantasy value in Miami. The offensive game plan is built around Hill and Waddle. Furthermore, Wilson will have to compete with Anderson and Berrios for the No. 3 wide receiver role.
Hopefully, the Dolphins can find a trade partner for the veteran wide receiver. One potential landing spot is the Los Angeles Rams. Cooper Kupp is arguably the top wide receiver in the NFL. However, the Rams lack proven pass catchers behind him on the depth chart. While the team is excited about their younger receivers, Wilson would give Matthew Stafford a reliable veteran opposite Kupp.
