Free agent running back Dalvin Cook has been the subject of interest from multiple teams around the league. Earlier in June, he was released by the Minnesota Vikings, and ever since then, he has been in touch with various teams.
As of now, the Miami Dolphins are seen as the frontrunners to sign the 27-year-old running back. The interest is mutual from both parties, as the former Vikings RB is from Miami and would love to go back home.
In this piece, we will discuss how Cook can impact the Dolphins if he decides to sign with them in the coming weeks.

Dalvin Cook would add another dimension to the Dolphins' offense
The Miami Dolphins already have one of the best offenses in the league, and we saw its brilliance last season when Tua Tagovailoa was healthy. They still have Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle on the roster, who are projected to have even better seasons than last year. The Dolphins also added Braxton Berrios and Robbie Chosen in the offseason, and they arguably have the best-receiving group in the league.
They have Raheem Mostert and Cedric Wilson Jr. as their primary running backs, and a player like Dalvin Cook would be a massive upgrade over them. It would also enable head coach Mike McDaniels to use Cook in the same way that the San Francisco 49ers use Deebo Samuel.
Cook has demonstrated his ability to catch the ball effectively over the last few seasons, which is why a player like him adds another dimension to the Dolphins' offense.
Dalvin Cook might sign with a new team before training camp
The New York Jets, in addition to the Miami Dolphins, are interested in signing Cook. Due to the high demand, the star running back could sign with a new team before training camp begins next month. Cook had 264 carries for 1,173 yards and eight rushing touchdowns in 17 games last season, averaging 4.4 yards per carry. He also had 295 yards receiving on 39 receptions and recorded two receiving touchdowns.
