Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor was the 41st overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Taylor had an excellent college career, totaling 926 rushing attempts for 6,174 yards and 50 touchdowns in his three years at Wisconsin. More importantly, the former Badger hit the ground runner as a rookie.
He had 232 rushing attempts for 1,169 yards and 11 touchdowns in 2020. Furthermore, Taylor had 36 receptions on 39 targets for 299 receiving yards and a touchdown that season. The young running back had a breakout season the following year.
Taylor had 332 rushing attempts for 1,811 yards and 18 touchdowns in 2021, leading the NFL in all three categories. He also had 40 receptions on 51 targets for 360 receiving yards and two touchdowns. While injuries ruined his 2022 season, the superstar remains one of the top running backs in the NFL.

Will The Colts Trade Jonathan Taylor?
The former Wisconsin star is entering the final year of his rookie contract. However, the Colts haven’t offered Taylor a long-term deal. Meanwhile, owner Jim Irsay had a questionable, at best, comment on Twitter about the current running back market.
Irsay and Taylor reportedly met earlier tonight to discuss the situation. However, things didn’t go well, as the superstar running back has formally requested a trade.
Which Teams Would Be The Best Fit?
Unfortunately, Taylor is stuck between a rock and a hard place. Irsay won’t offer the superstar running back a long-term contract. Yet, the stubborn owner won’t consider trading the former Wisconsin star to a team that will pay him.
Taylor can sit out and refuse to play until he gets an extension or traded. However, that is unlikely, as the team can levy significant fines against the superstar running back. Given the situation, fantasy players and Colt fans should expect Taylor on the field come Week 1.
However, things can change quickly in the NFL. Irsay could change his mind before the start of the regular season or by the trade deadline. If the team trades Taylor, there are a couple of potential landing spots.
The most likely landing spot is the Miami Dolphins. They have been aggressive in the trade market over the past 18 months, acquiring Tyreek Hill and Bradley Chubb. Furthermore, Miami has flirted with Dalvin Cook this offseason. Despite spending a third-round pick on De’Von Achane, that won’t stop the Dolphins from acquiring Taylor if the price is right.
