Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Mike Williams has had a solid NFL career. The former Clemson star has spent his seven-year career with the Chargers, totaling 309 receptions on 512 targets for 4,806 receiving yards and 31 touchdowns.
Williams has had multiple years with over 1,000 receiving yards in his career, including in 2021. That year, he totaled 76 receptions on 129 targets for 1,146 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, setting career highs in most receiving categories.
Unfortunately, the veteran wide receiver had his 2023 season cut short by a torn ACL. Williams had 19 receptions on 26 targets for 249 receiving yards and a touchdown in only three games last season.

Will The Chargers Trade Mike Williams?
The Chargers are currently more than $20 million over the salary cap. The team's top option to get under the cap is to trade away high-priced veterans. Williams is one of those high-priced players, accounting for over $30 million against the salary cap in 2024.
Los Angeles could also trade Keenan Allen, Joey Bosa, or Khalil Mack, as all three have a salary cap hit of over $30 million next season. However, Williams is the most likely Charger to get traded before the start of the league year.
A team to watch: The #Chargers are still $21M over the cap, and teams are eyeing what they'll do with at least one of these players: Mike Williams ($32M cap hit), Keenan Allen ($34M cap hit), Joey Bosa ($36M cap hit), and Khalil Mack ($38M cap hit).

Which Teams Could Trade For Mike Williams?
Reportedly, a few teams won’t trade for the veteran wide receiver, hoping that Los Angeles will be forced to release Williams. However, the Chargers have received trade calls from multiple teams about the former Clemson star.
The New England Patriots contacted Los Angeles about their expensive veterans, including Williams. They have arguably the worst wide receiver core in the NFL, making them a potential trade partner.

However, they aren’t the only ones who could trade for the veteran wide receiver. The Carolina Panthers, Chicago Bears, New York Giants, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, Kansas City Chiefs, and New York Jets could explore trading for Williams.
While several teams would trade for Williams at the right price, expect the Panthers and Chiefs to be the two most likely landing spots. Carolina has to give Bryce Young more weapons in the passing game after he spent his rookie season with limited help.
Meanwhile, Williams has been a thorn in the side of Kansas City for the past several years. While Rashee Rice looks like a star in the making, the veteran would give Patrick Mahomes a big body weapon on the outside and in the red zone.
