The 2023 NFL Draft is just over two weeks away, and the rumor mill is on fire. One of the most talked about topics is the Arizona Cardinals and the third overall pick.
After the Chicago Bears traded the No. 1 overall pick to the Carolina Panthers, the Cardinals are in a prime position. Most people believe the first two picks will be Bryce Young and C.J. Stroud, in some order. However, what will happen with the third overall selection?
Arizona doesn’t need a quarterback after signing Kyler Murray to a massive extension last offseason. Therefore, could they trade the No. 3 overall pick, or will they select star edge rusher Will Anderson?

Will The Cardinals Trade Out Of The No. 3 Pick?
Many believe the Cardinals will trade out of the No. 3 overall pick. The team has multiple holes on its roster. Furthermore, reportedly six teams have called Arizona about trading up to the third overall pick.
A team would only trade up to select a quarterback. After the Panthers and Houston Texans make the first two picks, Arizona is the only team picking in the top seven selections that won’t consider a quarterback. The Indianapolis Colts (picking fourth), Seattle Seahawks (fifth), Detroit Lions (sixth), and Las Vegas Raiders (seventh) have all done their homework on the quarterback draft class.
Furthermore, those four teams are likely part of the sixth to contact the Cardinals about their top draft selection. The question is, which team is most likely to move up?
Which Team Could Trade For The No. 3 Pick?
The Colts and Seahawks have been the two most popular teams to trade up with the Cardinals in mock drafts. Indianapolis would want to move up one spot to secure their choice of Anthony Richardson and Will Levis.
Meanwhile, Seattle re-signed Geno Smith this offseason to a three-year deal. However, the team can release the veteran quarterback next offseason if he struggles in 2023. The Seahawks could move ahead of the Colts to secure their choice of quarterback to develop behind Smith.
However, one potential dark horse team is the Tennessee Titans. The AFC South team has the 11th overall pick this year. Ryan Tannehill is entering the final year of his contract and likely won’t return in 2024.
