What Did Tee Higgins Accomplish In 2022?
After two productive years to start his career, Higgins had his best fantasy season in 2022. The former second-round pick had 74 receptions on 109 targets for 1,029 receiving yards and seven touchdowns last year. He ended the year as the WR17, averaging 11.5 fantasy points per game. Furthermore, his seven receiving touchdowns were a career-high.
Cincinnati got a steal after picking Higgins in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, that means the star wide receiver is entering the final year of his rookie contract in 2023.
Will The Bengals Sign Tee Higgins To A Contract Extension?
Over the past few months, there have been rumors that the Bengals could trade away Higgins. However, the team loves the former Clemson star wide receiver. Reportedly, they have gotten several calls about the young star receiver but have declined all trade offers thus far.
The news isn’t surprising. Higgins is a critical part of the team’s passing attack. Burrow and Ja’Marr Chase have publicly stated they want the former Clemson star wide receiver back in Cincinnati for the long haul.
More importantly, Higgins and the team’s front office have stated they want the star wide receiver to remain a Bengal for a long time. The two sides have almost a year to work out a long-term contract. Meanwhile, Cincinnati can use the franchise tag next offseason on Higgins if necessary.
The two sides will work out a long-term deal over the next several months barring some unforeseen change. Therefore, fantasy players should expect Higgins to remain a Bengal for the foreseeable future.
