Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool was the 49th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft by the Pittsburgh Steelers. Claypool had a productive college career, totaling 150 receptions for 2,159 receiving yards and 19 touchdowns in four years at Notre Dame.
The former Fighting Irish star had an excellent rookie season. He caught 62 of 109 targets for 873 receiving yards and nine touchdowns. Claypool also had 10 rushing attempts for 16 yards and two touchdowns that year.
However, he has struggled since his rookie season. The former Notre Dame star has scored only four touchdowns over the past three years, averaging only 41.3 receiving yards per game.

Will The Bears Trade Chase Claypool?
The Bears traded for Claypool last year, giving the Steelers a second-round pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. Unfortunately, Chicago hasn’t won a game since trading for the veteran and handed Pittsburgh the 32nd overall pick in the draft for the wide receiver.
Claypool has only four receptions on 14 targets for 51 receiving yards and a touchdown this season. Last week, he criticized how the team has used him in the passing game. Therefore, it’s no surprise that the Bears told the veteran receiver to stay away from that team and made him inactive for the Week 4 matchup against the Denver Broncos.
Chicago is reportedly calling teams about the former Notre Dame star. After giving up a second-round pick for Claypool less than a year ago, the Bears are reportedly willing to trade him away for a fifth or sixth-round selection.
Which Teams Would Be A Good Fit?
Despite struggling since his rookie year, there are teams interested in the veteran wide receiver. He isn’t considered a starting-caliber wide receiver. However, several teams are reportedly interested in adding Claypool as a depth piece.
Fantasy players shouldn’t hold out hope that the former Notre Dame star gets traded and becomes fantasy-relevant. He hasn’t been consistent for fantasy players since his rookie season. However, a change of scenery could make Claypool a viable bench option in deeper leagues.
The best landing spot for the veteran wide receiver is the New York Giants. The team has multiple role-player receivers but lacks a prototypical outside pass catcher. Fantasy players should temper their expectations for the former Notre Dame star regardless of where Claypool lands.
