Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell (back) has been through tough times ever since suffering a season-ending broken leg in Week 13 of 2023. It ended a breakout rookie season that had him in contention for the Offensive Rookie of the Year award. He was well on his way to being a league-winner in fantasy football.
Then, in the offseason, he was shot on the leg. Though the wound wasn't serious and he didn't miss any games, it added to his difficulties and likely slowed his recovery. That's probably sufficient to explain his sluggish start to the season -- at least until last week, when he caught six of his nine targets for 126 yards against the New York Jets.
However, Dell appeared on the injury report recently. So will he play tonight?

Tank Dell Fantasy Football Injury Update
He's listed on the injury report with a back issue. Fortunately, it doesn't seem to be serious, and he's expected to play tonight. He was a late addition to the report, as he practiced in full on Wednesday and Thursday. He could have had a flare-up of a previous issue or simply some soreness that the team wanted to rest.

There isn't a big reason for concern. Aside from a highly unlikely setback, he should take the field when his team takes on the Detroit Lions tonight.
Tank Dell Fantasy Football Injury Impact
There probably won't be much of an impact. Unless the issue is more serious than we've been led to believe, he should play his expected role as WR2 to WR Nico Collins (hamstring) assuming he plays, or WR1 if Collins can't go. It seems like the team's WR1 will play, though.
Just a reminder that Tank Dell went 6-126 vs. the Jets on Thursday.

With WR Stefon Diggs (knee) out for the season, Dell now has an expanded role with the team. He'll play more often in 2WR sets as opposed to missing snaps when the team calls plays featuring two tight ends. His injury shouldn't change whether fantasy managers start him, and he remains WR3/FLEX option with upside for more.
