Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers has gotten out to a hot start in 2024. Ewers, who led Texas to the College Football Playoff last year, has thrown for 691 yards, eight touchdowns, and two interceptions to begin the new campaign. However, the junior signal-caller suffered an abdominal injury in the win over UTSA, putting his Week 4 status in doubt.
In relief of Ewers, big-name backup quarterback Arch Manning flashed his potential with a monster effort off the bench, and Texas climbed into the No. 1 spot in the AP poll following his showing. Ewers will likely keep the starting job when he is healthy, but Manning could be in line to start against Louisiana–Monroe.
Is Ewers playing this week, or is Manning going to start for Texas? Let's dive into Ewers' latest injury update.

Quinn Ewers Injury Update
Ewers (abdominal) is banged up, but his injury is not as serious as it looked on Saturday. However, Pete Thamel of ESPN reports that Ewers will likely miss the Week 4 contest against Louisiana–Monroe and is being considered week-to-week.
Breaking: Texas QB Quinn Ewers' ab injury isn’t as serious as initially feared.

Given the inferior opponent heading into Austin this week, it would be a surprise if Texas decided to play Ewers. The Longhorns are currently listed as 44-point favorites against ULM, according to DraftKings Sportsbook.
Will Arch Manning Start for Texas in Week 4?
UPDATE: Manning has officially been named the starter for Saturday's contest
With Ewers likely to sit out Saturday's contest, Manning is in line for his first collegiate start. The nephew of Peyton and Eli showed he can at least handle an inferior opponent last week, completing nine of his 12 passing attempts for 223 yards and four touchdowns. He added three carries for 53 yards and a touchdown on the ground.

If Manning plays well, there could be calls for him to start, but Ewers has been excellent thus far, and Texas has matchups with No. 15 Oklahoma and No. 2 Georgia after games against ULM and Mississippi State. Expect Ewers to start those games unless he suffers an injury setback.
