Will Nick Chubb Be A Top-5 Fantasy RB In 2023? Fantasy Football Outlook

Will Nick Chubb Be A Top-5 Fantasy Running Back In 2023? Should I draft Nick Chubb? Read the 2023 fantasy football outlook.

Cleveland Browns running back Nick Chubb was a second-round pick in the 2018 NFL Draft. Chubb had a productive college career, totaling 758 rushing attempts for 4,769 yards and 44 touchdowns at Georgia.

The former Bulldog star had a limited role early in his rookie season with Carlos Hyde on the roster. However, Chubb became a star when the team traded Hyde to the Jacksonville Jaguars. He ended his rookie season with just under 1,000 rushing yards and eight touchdowns.

Chubb became one of the top running backs in the NFL over the past few years. The former Georgia star had at least 1,000 rushing yards every year since his rookie season. Furthermore, he has made the pro bowl every year since 2019.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

What Did Nick Chubb Accomplish In 2022?

Last year was the best season of Chubb’s career. He had 302 rushing attempts for 1,525 yards and 12 touchdowns, all career highs. The veteran running back averaged at least five yards per rushing attempt and over 88 yards per game for the fourth consecutive year.

Furthermore, the former Bulldog star finished third in rushing attempts and yards last season. Meanwhile, Chubb had the fifth most rushing touchdowns in the NFL, scoring two or more in 17.7% of the contests.

More importantly, the veteran was the RB5 last year, averaging 15.8 half-point PPR fantasy points per game. Chubb had the second-highest fantasy points per game average of his career in 2022. Furthermore, the former Georgia star has averaged at least 14.7 fantasy points per game for the fourth consecutive season.

Will Nick Chubb Be A Top-5 Fantasy RB In 2023?

Chubb has been one of the most consistent fantasy football running backs over the past four years. However, the veteran doesn’t get the credit he deserves because of the lack of pass-catching work.

Austin Ekeler and Christian McCaffrey were the top two scoring fantasy running backs last season. Both superstars had at least 722 receiving yards in 2022. Meanwhile, Chubb’s career high in receiving yards is 278.

However, that might change this season. Reportedly, the veteran running back will play more of a role in the passing game this year with Kareem Hunt no longer on the team.

After finishing last year as the RB5, fantasy players should feel confident drafting Chubb as the No. 1 running back in 2023.
