After a strong rookie campaign, Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison is looking to build off it in Year 2. Addison caught 70 passes for 911 yards and 10 touchdowns in 2023. While he was an inconsistent fantasy option after Kirk Cousins went down with a season-ending Achilles injury, the wideout still had some solid fantasy games down the stretch.
However, Addison was one of the riskier picks in the later round of drafts this year. He dealt with some off-the-field issues this offseason, and the quarterback downgrade from Cousins to Sam Darnold surely hurts his fantasy value. On top of that, the young wideout suffered an ankle injury during training camp.
So, will Addison play in Week 1? Let's dive in and find out.

Will Jordan Addison Play In Week 1?
When Addison first suffered his ankle injury in the middle of August, the Vikings didn't seem too worried about his availability for Week 1. Despite not playing in the final two preseason games, the team still remained optimistic that the 22-year-old would be good to go for the season opener against the New York Giants.
That appears to be the case, as Addison is off the injury report and heads into Sunday's contest with no injury designation. After practicing in a limited fashion on both Wednesday and Thursday, the Vikings wideout practiced in full on Friday. As a result, he will be active for Minnesota's Week 1 matchup.

Jordan Addison Week 1 Fantasy Outlook
On paper, the matchup against the Giants secondary is a solid one for Addison. New York allowed the fifth-most fantasy points to opposing wideouts last season (36.04) and the fourth-most catches (238) to the position. However, the former 2023 first-round pick is a risky play in all formats in Week 1.
With Darnold expected to lead the Vikings' quarterback room this season, Addison likely no longer has a high fantasy floor. As a result, he might be better left on your bench to start the season until we see how this Minnesota offense operates.
Call me a pessimist… but I’m still not trusting putting Jordan Addison in my lineup Week 1 https://t.co/OykcwEsRsg

In 12-plus team leagues, Addison could be a fine flex play, especially given the matchup. Nonetheless, there are likely better wideouts to start in the flex in fantasy this week.
