Will Jordan Addison Finish As The Top Fantasy Rookie Wide Receiver In 2023? Fantasy Football Outlook

Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Jordan Addison was the 23rd overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. The former USC star was the fourth wide receiver selected.

Furthermore, Addison was one of four first-round wide receivers this year. All four wide receivers got selected from pick 20 through pick 23.

While he was the fourth first-round wide receiver drafted, Addison has arguably the most fantasy upside as a rookie.

What Did Jordan Addison Accomplish In College?

Addison started his college career at the University of Pittsburgh. He had 60 receptions for 666 receiving yards and four touchdowns as a freshman. However, the former Panther had a breakout season in 2021.

That year Addison had 100 receptions for 1,593 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns. He led the ACC in receiving yards and touchdowns while finishing second in the conference in receptions. More importantly, the Pittsburgh star finished first in the country in receiving touchdowns.

After spending the first two years of his college career at Pittsburgh, Addison transferred to USC to play alongside Caleb Williams. Unfortunately, the star receiver missed some time with injuries. However, he still ended the year with 59 receptions for 875 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. More importantly, Addison led USC in all three categories.

While training camp is still a few weeks away, Addison has had an outstanding offseason for the Vikings. The rookie wide receiver has already impressed the coaching staff and teammates.

Meanwhile, the former USC star landed in the perfect spot for immediate fantasy production. Minnesota released Adam Thielen this offseason for salary cap reasons. The veteran wide receiver had 107 targets last season, the second-most on the team. Furthermore, he had at least 95 targets in five of the past six seasons.

The veteran receiver was also one of Kirk Cousins’ go-to targets in the red zone. Thielen ended his time in Minnesota with 55 receiving touchdowns. The former undrafted free agent had at least nine touchdowns in three of the past five years.

More importantly, the rookie will take over as the starter opposite Justin Jefferson. With defenses determined to slow down the superstar wide receiver, Addison will have plenty of one-on-one matchups to take advantage of and should have a productive year for fantasy players.
