Los Angeles Chargers tight end Gerald Everett had a solid season in his first year with the team, especially when wide receivers Keenan Allen and Mike Williams were hit by the injury bug. However, his future with L.A. is uncertain and he might be looking for a new landing spot in 2023.
It's early in the offseason, but it's always a good idea to take a general look at the landscape of the tight end position. For dynasty fantasy football purposes, the situation he's in catching passes from Justin Herbert is ideal. If he's on a team with a worse offense or lesser quarterback next year, his value could see a big drop.
How did Everett play in 2022 and will he be released by the Chargers this offseason? We'll dive into it below.

Gerald Everett 2022 Season Review
In 2022, Everett totaled career highs in targets (87), receptions (58), yards (555), first downs (29), and touchdowns (4). He was a focal point of the Herbert-led offense and had real boom weeks while the Chargers' star pass-catchers were banged up.
In fantasy football, he finished as the TE14 in standard leagues and TE13 in PPR leagues. However, the Chargers have an out on his two-year deal this offseason, so they'll have a decision to make given all of the loaded contracts on their roster.
Will Gerald Everett Be Released By The Chargers?
Since releasing Everett would save the Chargers $4.25 million before or after June 1, there's a good chance he'll be a cap causality this offseason. The Chargers likely will try to upgrade the position, as Donald Parham Jr. only played in six games due to injury last year, and Tre' McKitty took a step back in his second season.
Los Angeles could be in the market for one of the tight ends set to be a free agent this offseason or could be interested in selecting a tight end in the first three rounds of the 2023 NFL Draft.
As for Everett, he'll likely still be on the fantasy radar on a new team next season, but it's hard to imagine he could be in a better spot for fantasy production next year.
