Wide receiver Elijah Moore was traded from the New York Jets to the Cleveland Browns this offseason after a disappointing 2022 campaign. Moore was almost non-existent in New York's offense last season, finishing with just 37 catches for 446 yards and one touchdown in 16 games.
But the change of scenery could help Moore in his third NFL season. The talent has always been there for him. He was the 34th overall pick in the 2021 NFL Draft and has shown flashes of his potential in his first two seasons. Now, he'll work the slot in Cleveland with three-time Pro Bowler Deshaun Watson under center.
So, will Moore be A Breakout Candidate For The Browns? What's his fantasy value? Let's dive in.
Will Elijah Moore be A Breakout Candidate For The Browns?
All signs point to the 23-year-old wideout having a breakout season in his first year with the Browns. According to The Athletic's Zac Jackson, "Moore is an easy pick as an early breakout candidate based on the Browns' spring work." He then went on to say that he was the most targeted player in Cleveland's OTAs.
Moore was frustrated last year for his lack of involvement in the Jets' offense. He demanded a trade midseason and found himself benched for one week following his request. But the young wideout finally got his wish this offseason and is reportedly thriving in the Browns' new-look offense.
Moore has supposedly built an early rapport with Watson, which gives the wideout breakout potential in 2023. The change of scenery in a better passing offense could propel the wideout's production.
Elijah Moore Fantasy Football Outlook
Last season, Cleveland's offense didn't live up to its potential with Watson. But a full offseason and Moore's arrival should help the offenses' resurgence.
Moore will primarily work in the slot on offense while mixing around in different roles. He has also seen snaps out wide and in the backfield during OTAs. It appears the Browns will be moving the speedy wideout all over the offense in hopes of getting him targets in open space.
Despite Moore joining a group of Amari Cooper and Donovan Peoples-Jones, the Browns seem to already love their new wideout. So, he'll surely be a major part of Cleveland's offense. He has a ton of upside, entering just his third NFL season, and he could find himself as a high-end flex play in fantasy in 2023.
