Philadelphia Eagles tight end Dallas Goedert is an interesting name to monitor ahead of the 2024 fantasy football season. The veteran has been a reliable contributor in the past, but he's coming off a down season. There's also more depth than usual at the tight end position this year, making it a little harder to rank Goedert for Week 1 and the rest of the season.
There's also the injury factor. Goedert has been banged up this summer, and his status for the upcoming season opener remains up in the air.
Will Goedert be healthy when the season begins? Will Goedert play in Week 1? Here's our injury update for fantasy football.

Will Dallas Goedert Play In Week 1?
Goedert was absent from practice near the end of last week due to an oblique injury that has sidelined him this summer. However, he did get some reps on the field this Sunday. His recovery is going well, and he's making progress, but it's too early to tell whether he'll play in Week 1 versus the Green Bay Packers.
Head coach Nick Sirianni recently suggested to the media that Tuesday's injury report will provide some more clarity about Goedert's status and potential availability. The Eagles play against the Packers on Friday night in Brazil, so in the event that Goedert can't suit up, fantasy managers will know before the weekend.

Dallas Goedert Fantasy Outlook
Goedert caught 59 passes for 592 yards and three touchdowns over the course of 14 games last year. He tallied just 9.7 fantasy points per game, his lowest mark since 2019.
However, the underlying metrics point to last year's down year being somewhat of an anomaly. He still participated in 92.8 percent of routes and delivered +38.3 expected points added, both of which ranked among the league's top 10 tight ends.
Goedert should have a similar role this year, given that Philadelphia didn't bring in much competition through the passing game. Goedert remains one of the Eagles' top weapons in the red zone, so even though Jalen Hurts' tush push may vulture some touchdowns, the tight end is a valuable player in passing situations near the goal line.
Fantasy managers should view Goedert as a top-12 tight end this season. Depending on which tight ends are on your roster, he may or may not be worth starting every week. However, he has the track record and upside to move into the top six or eight players at his position in 2024.
If he plays this week, Goedert is a low-end TE1 option against a Packers defense that allowed the 10th-most points to tight ends last year.
Dallas Goedert's Late-Round fantasy value doesn't change for me. He's still the Eagles next pass-catching option after the big three and a significant piece in Kellen Moore's offensive system.
