Will Chase Claypool Have An Expanded Role With The Bears in 2023? Fantasy Football Outlook

How will Chase Claypool perform in 2023? Should I draft Chase Claypool in fantasy football? Read the fantasy football outlook.

Chicago Bears wide receiver Chase Claypool will be entering his fourth NFL season as he gears up for his first full campaign with the Chicago Bears.

Claypool broke out as a rookie with 873 yards and nine touchdowns, but has regressed in each of the following seasons.

The 24-year-old Tik-Tok star is still very young in his career and will look to develop more chemistry with franchise quarterback Justin Fields heading into 2023.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy football rankings for 2025:

How Did Chase Claypool Perform in 2022?

The former second-round pick had just one touchdown in his 2022 campaign, coming in Week 6 when he was still with Pittsburgh.

Claypool was traded to Chicago for a second-round pick ahead of Week 9, but severely underperformed expectations.

He grabbed just 14 receptions for 140 yards through seven games with Chicago, with the team going 0-9 over that stretch.

Will Chase Claypool Have An Expanded Role With The Bears in 2023?

While Claypool had a disappointing 2022 season, he was acquired mid-season and will have a full offseason to work with the staff and with Justin Fields.

It is hard to say that his role won’t expand with how limited he was used in 2022. Chicago is likely not done revamping their offense and will likely bring in more talent to surround Fields, but if Fields can develop some chemistry with Claypool we could see him revert back to rookie-season form.

With Bears’ coaches already raving about Claypool, it is likely that he will have an impact on Chicago’s offense in 2023.

It is hard to say where Claypool will be valued in draft season coming off of such a weak season but also currently looking like the current top target for the Bears, and where he is valued will determine if he is worth taking a shot at in 2023 drafts or if he should be left for another league mate to deal with.
