San Francisco 49ers quarterback Brock Purdy surprised everyone in his rookie season. He was the last pick of the 2022 NFL Draft and was thrown in to replace Jimmy Garoppolo midway through last season. Since Purdy got his opportunity to play for the 49ers, he didn't look back, and the team didn't lose a game that he started until the NFC Championship Game.
The 23-year-old quarterback got hurt in the NFC Championship Game and suffered a UCL injury. He was forced to sit out of the game, but later backup quarterback Josh Johnson also suffered a concussion. The 49ers played without a quarterback for most of the game and ended up losing 7-31.
Throughout the offseason, there was doubt about Purdy being healthy enough to start in Week 1 of next season. Due to that, there was an ongoing battle between Trey Lance and Sam Darnold for the franchise's QB1 role.
Is Brock Purdy Injured Or Healthy?
According to recent sources, Brock Purdy will be ready to play for the San Francisco 49ers in Week 1. The NFC West team will kick off their season against the Pittsburgh Steelers, and they are currently a three-point favorite.
This latest update about Purdy is quite significant for the 49ers fans, as the quarterback who played reasonably well last season will be able to start the season for them. Fans will be relieved because there had been worries regarding Lance and Darnold's abilities to lead the team.
Brock Purdy Was Sensational Last Season
When Jimmy Garoppolo suffered a season-ending foot injury against the Miami Dolphins in Week 13, many thought that the 49ers' season was over. But that wasn't the case, as Brock Purdy stepped in and played like a star quarterback for the rest of the season.
Last season, the 49ers quarterback had a passer rating of 107.3 with 1,374 yards, 13 touchdowns, and four interceptions in nine games. Fantasy managers can certainly look to draft him as he is fully healthy to start in Week 1 for the 49ers, and he is expected to get significant points next season given how good he was in his rookie season.
