Seven head coaches have already been relieved of their duties, meaning there is no shortage of vacant jobs around the NFL. While organizations usually like to get firings and hiring done quickly, we could still see more franchise leaders get let go in the coming days.
Mike Vrabel and Pete Carroll were two of the more surprising firings this week, while coaches like Brandon Staley and Ron Rivera have been on the hot seat for a few years. The focus of this article is to evaluate three additional coaches who could be on the way out.
Will Bill Belichick, Matt Eberflus, or Dennis Allen be fired ahead of the 2024 season? Let's dive in.

Will Bill Belichick Be Fired By New England?
UPDATE: Belichick and the Patriots have officially parted ways. He's out after 24 seasons with the organization.
New England head coach Bill Belichick has been the leader of the organization for a whopping 24 seasons. He's accumulated a 266-121 record and has taken the Pats to nine Super Bowls, winning six of them.
However, things have been rocky since the departure of Tom Brady after the 2019 season. New England has gone 34-38 since then with just one playoff appearance and zero playoff wins. In 2023, New England went 4-13 -- its lowest win total since 1992.
While rumors have swirled for months over Belichick's job security, he has not been let go at the time of this writing. For this one, we'll just have to wait and see.
Will Matt Eberflus Be Fired By Chicago?
According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Chicago Bears head coach Matt Eberflus is expected to return for the 2024 season. Eberflus inherited a team that went 6-11 before he took over. In two seasons at the helm, the Bears have gone 3-14 and 7-1o. Although the overall results are underwhelming, they have improved -- earning the former Colts defensive coordinator another year.
Chicago has the No. 1 overall pick and a decision to make on Justin Fields' future, so it'll be an interesting year for the franchise. Eberflus will begin the 2024 campaign on the hot seat.
Will Dennis Allen Be Fired By New Orleans?
Replacing Sean Payton in New Orleans was always going to be a tall task, and Dennis Allen has done an "OK" job of filling his shoes. Despite having Jameis Winston, Andy Dalton, and Derek Carr under center, he's gone 16-18 in his first two seasons at the helm. The team has been mediocre, but they haven't been terrible, even with an aging roster.
Saints fans might want Allen to be replaced, but with no recent updates on his job status, it's looking likely that he's retained heading into 2024. If so, he'll start 2024 on the hot seat.
