The Kansas City Chiefs had high expectations for this season. Fresh off back-to-back Super Bowl victories, Kansas City set its sights on becoming the first team ever to win three straight Super Bowls.
Following yet another playoff victory over the Buffalo Bills last weekend, the Chiefs will get their chance to make history in Super Bowl LIX. Kansas City faces the Philadelphia Eagles in a rematch from Super Bowl LVII. The Chiefs defeated Philadelphia 38-35 in that game, and the Eagles will be looking for revenge.
So, what are the two-time defending champions' odds of pulling off the three-peat? Let's take a few minutes and discuss why the Kansas City Chiefs will win Super Bowl LIX.

Why The Kansas City Chiefs Will Win Super Bowl LIX
The Chiefs enjoyed another strong regular season in the Patrick Mahomes/Andy Reid era. They tied the Detroit Lions for the best record in the league at 15-2 and secured home-field advantage once again. Philadelphia has one of the best starting 22 in the NFL and is arguably the better overall team. The Eagles rank higher than the Chiefs in total team and defensive DVOA, per FTN Fantasy.
However, Kansas City has the ultimate X factor in Mahomes.

Jalen Hurts is a good quarterback, but he's not on the same level as Mahomes. Kansas City will also have the coaching advantage in this game. Nick Sirianni has been very successful in his four years as Philadelphia's head coach, but Andy Reid is one of the greatest to ever do it. The Chiefs also have one of the best coordinators in the league. Steve Spagnuolo has worked wonders for Kansas City's defense and has been a key contributor to their dynasty.
Philadelphia also boasts a strong defensive coordinator. Vic Fangio was hired by the Eagles last year to improve their defense. It proved to be a smart move as Philadelphia finished 2024 ranked first in overall defensive DVOA. However, Mahomes has had great success against Fangio's defenses in the past.
Patrick Mahomes is 8-0 in games where Vic Fangio is the opposing teams head coach(Broncos 2019-2021) or defensive coordinator(Dolphins 2023).
In those 8 games, Mahomes has 2,005 total yards and 11 TDs and a 62.3 cmp%. The Chiefs have combined to outscore their opponents 215-95… pic.twitter.com/HMKOpM7bMk

While Philadelphia has the better overall roster, Kansas City has the edge at quarterback and coaching. These will likely be the difference in the game and will propel the Chiefs to their record-setting third straight Lombardi Trophy.
