The 2024 NFL season is nearly complete. However, we still have one more week of fantasy football action before things are over.
There are still championships to be decided. Now is no time to throttle down if your season is still going.
Wide receivers are crucial to any fantasy football title run. Starting the right pass-catchers can be the boost your team needs. Josh Downs, Darnell Mooney, and Marvin Harrison Jr. are options for gamers this week. There’s a case to be made for each player, so let’s break down what to expect from each receiver in Week 18.
Should I Start Josh Downs?
After missing the first few weeks of the season with a high ankle sprain, Downs has not seen the typical spike in production we’ve seen from sophomore receivers in recent years. Most of that can be blamed on the Colts' quarterback play, but Downs is still a talented player.

Indianapolis draws a home date against the division-rival Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. Jacksonville has been among the worst passing defenses in the league all year, so this could be a great spot to start Downs.
Anthony Richardson appears to be at risk of missing his second consecutive game with a back injury. Joe Flacco would start if Richardson does miss the game. Flacco has been much better for Downs’ fantasy value when he has played, so he would be the preferred option for this week. Gamers should consider Downs a high-end WR3 play with upside for more if Flacco gets the nod for the Colts.
Should I Start Darnell Mooney?
Mooney has enjoyed a fine first year in Atlanta. He’s posted a 64-992-5 line in 16 games and is the PPR WR27.

The fifth-year receiver has popped for a few big games this year and Sunday could be another one. Atlanta faces the Carolina Panthers this week. Carolina currently ranks 32nd in defensive passing DVOA, per FTN Fantasy, and has allowed the third-most touchdowns to receivers this year, per Fantasy Football Today.
With Michael Penix Jr. taking over at quarterback, the Atlanta passing game now has more upside. However, this week could be a spot where the Falcons ride Bijan Robinson and the ground game, as Carolina has one of the worst run defenses in the league. Gamers should consider Mooney a WR3 or flex play for Week 18.
Should I Start Marvin Harrison Jr.?
Harrison hasn’t lived up to the lofty expectations that were placed on him by drafters back in August, but he’s still had a respectable rookie season.

He takes on a 49ers defense that has struggled quite a bit this season but has still been effective guarding receivers. San Francisco allows the third-fewest PPR points per game to opposing pass-catchers and ranks second in PFF’s pass coverage grade. This could be another tough outing for the rookie.
Gamers should consider Harrison a WR3 play for his week but should consider other options as this is not the ideal spot to deploy him.

The wide receiver position has an advantage over the running back position in PPR scoring formats, typically. Receivers' main job of catching the football leads to them scoring more points per touch, and those WRs that consistently get high volume can produce great results with a strong floor. Not every WR is like this, though, […]
