It's Week 17, which means most fantasy football leagues now have their championship matchups. Whether you're competing for the title, hoping to finish higher in the final standings, or just trying not to lose the Toilet Bowl in your league, there's still plenty of reason to try to maximize the scoring of your starting lineup.

After a long season, many may wish they had just played best ball instead -- a format where your week is scored as if you had started your team's best possible lineup each week. But that's not how most leagues operate, and there's some fun in choosing who to insert into your active players.

Let's break down the best start-sit decision for three wide receivers who are rostered in most leagues right now.

 

Should I Start Jaxon Smith-Njigba for Fantasy Football?

Yes. There is no reason to bench Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba in Week 17 unless you're an overthinker or overanalyzer. JSN is now the WR7 in full-PPR scoring for the season, and he's been producing like a top-5 wideout in fantasy over the last seven games.

He mostly disappointed in his rookie season last year, but he's broken out in a big way and appears to have taken the WR1 job from fellow receiver DK Metcalf. Smith-Njigba has now outscored Metcalf in every game since the latter returned from a knee injury that knocked him out of two games.

And he might still not be 100%. Not that it would matter, because you shouldn't be benching JSN for any reason if he plays.

 

Should I Start Keenan Allen for Fantasy Football?

After an overall poor start to the season, Chicago Bears wide receiver Keenan Allen has now inexplicably scored 20+ PPR fantasy points in four of his last five games. Chicago was blown out by the Minnesota Vikings and Detroit Lions in Weeks 15 and 16, respectively, and quarterback Caleb Williams fed Allen plenty of targets.

He'll face a weak Seattle Seahawks pass defense in Week 17. He should be started -- he's been targeted 15, eight, five, 13, and 13 times in his past five games, and scored five touchdowns over that span.

 

Should I Start DJ Moore for Fantasy Football?

While Bears receiver DJ Moore hasn't produced like Allen has, the target volume has been impressive -- Williams has thrown the ball Moore's way 42 times in the last four games. Though he has just two receiving touchdowns since Week 6, he remains a good starting option in PPR leagues simply due to volume.

He'll probably be a better player to draft in 2025 if Allen is no longer on the team. Consistency has been an issue due to target competition. But things seem to have stabilized over the last few games, and the defense has been playing poorly, forcing the offense to pass the ball more. That is good for Moore.
