In most fantasy leagues, Week 17 is the fantasy football championship. That means making the right lineup decisions could be the difference in a championship title or a runner-up finish. 

In this article, we will determine if fantasy managers should be starting Jerome Ford, Rico Dowdle, and Tyjae Spears in the fantasy football championship. All three players are ranked right around each other heading into Week 17.

Should I Start Jerome Ford for Fantasy Football?

With Nick Chubb (foot) out for the season, Jerome Ford saw 80% of the team's offensive snaps last week against the Bengals. That led to Ford scoring 24.1 PPR fantasy points behind 131 yards from scrimmage. As a result, the Browns running back will be a solid RB2 option in Week 17 against the Dolphins. 

Although Miami has not allowed a 65-plus yard rusher since Week 5, Ford is still a solid play in most leagues due to the workload he'll see in this game. The 25-year-old running back totaled 16 touches last week, including five catches for 39 yards in the receiving game. Therefore, he has plenty of fantasy value in Week 17. 

 

Should I Start Rico Dowdle for Fantasy Football?

Rico Dowdle has been a solid fantasy option in recent weeks, scoring above 14.5 PPR fantasy points in three of the past four games. He has also seen at least 19 touches in four of the past five weeks. However, fantasy managers should think twice about starting Dowdle in Week 17 against the Eagles. 

Philadelphia has allowed the second-fewest fantasy points to opposing running backs this season, and Dowdle only scored 8.6 PPR fantasy points the last time he faced this Eagles defense back in Week 10. That makes the Cowboys running back an extremely risky RB2 option in the fantasy football championship. 

 

Should I Start Tyjae Spears for Fantasy Football?

With Tony Pollard continuing to deal with a nagging ankle injury, Tyjae Spears has seen more opportunities in recent weeks. Spears has scored above 20 PPR fantasy points in back-to-back games while playing over 50% of the team's offensive snaps in both of those contests. As a result, the second-year running back will be a sneaky flex option in most leagues this weekend. 

If Pollard winds up not playing on Sunday, though, Spears will be a must-start running back option against the Jaguars. Jacksonville has allowed the second-most fantasy points to opposing running backs this season. The young running back has also totaled nine catches for 126 yards and one touchdown over the past two games.
