Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Cooper Kupp was a third-round pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. He had 428 receptions for 6,464 receiving yards and 73 touchdowns during his four years at Eastern Washington. Furthermore, Kupp had at least 16 receiving touchdowns every year of his college career.
The former Eastern Washington star was productive over the first two years of his career, totaling 102 receptions on 149 targets for 1,435 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns in 23 games. However, Kupp had a breakout season in 2019. That year he was the WR4, averaging 14 half-point PPR fantasy points per game.
While his numbers regressed in 2020, the veteran wide receiver became a fantasy superstar the following year. Kupp was the WR1 in 2021, averaging 21.6 fantasy points per game. The former Eastern Washington star had 145 receptions for 1,947 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns, all career highs. Furthermore, he led the NFL in all three categories.

What Did Cooper Kupp Accomplish In 2022?
Following his historic 2021 season, fantasy players had high hopes for Kupp last year. Despite the team’s dysfunctional problems on offense, the veteran receiver was outstanding for fantasy players. Kupp had 75 receptions on 98 targets for 812 receiving yards and six touchdowns in nine games last season.
Unfortunately, the former Eastern Washington star suffered a high ankle sprain in Week 10 and missed the rest of the year. Yet, Kupp was on pace to have similar numbers to his 2021 totals before the injury. Over a 17-game pace, the veteran would have totaled 142 receptions on 185 targets for 1,533 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. By comparison, he had 145 receptions on 191 targets for 1,947 receiving yards and 16 touchdowns in 17 games the year before.
Should Cooper Kupp Be The No. 1 Overall Pick In 2023?
While the fantasy football community has already named Justin Jefferson the 1.01 pick and Ja’Marr Chase a top-three selection, how high can Kupp finish in 2023? He could be the top-scoring flex player.
The veteran was the WR1 on a points-per-game basis last year, averaging 0.3 fantasy points per game more than Jefferson. Furthermore, he ended the 2022 season as the WR24 despite missing half the year with an ankle injury. More importantly, the Rams have a limited receiving core, so don’t be surprised if Kupp ends the 2023 season as the WR1.
