The Arizona Diamondbacks have been one of the biggest surprises of this season. They had a youthful team, so there weren't huge hopes for them, but they have exceeded all expectations and even led the stacked NL West division for a few weeks.
Despite the fact that they have taken a step back over the course of the past few weeks, they are still in an excellent position to contend for one of the wild card spots in the National League. Their batters have been exceptional throughout the season, but in this piece, we will talk about who is their closer and his fantasy outlook.
Who Is the Diamondbacks Closer?
Currently, Kevin Ginkel is the designated closer for the Arizona Diamondbacks. He is having a pretty good season and has already racked up a lot of points for fantasy managers. So far this season, he has a 3-0 record with an ERA of 2.31, 34 strikeouts, and two saves while having 7.85 K/9 in 35 appearances.
In his last seven appearances, the 29-year-old star has pitched 7.1 innings while giving up only one run and four hits. During this span, he has recorded six strikeouts and recently closed out a 3-1 win over the St. Louis Cardinals on July 25. He has emerged as a great option for fantasy managers when it comes to closers, and given how he has performed this season, Ginkel is a pretty good option.
Behind him, the Diamondbacks' closer order is Andrew Chafin, Mark Melancon (IL), and Miguel Castro.
Kevin Ginkel Will Be the Key to the Diamondbacks' Playoff Hopes
The Diamondbacks are currently 55-48 and are 0.5 games behind the Cincinnati Reds for the final wild-card spot in the NFL. They have lost seven of their last 10 games, which is a big concern.
However, they still have a great chance at making the playoffs, and Kevin Ginkel will be required to stay hot along with the likes of Corbin Carroll, Ketel Marte, Christian Walker, Zac Gallen, and Merrill Kelly.
