Veteran quarterback Teddy Bridgewater was a first-round pick by the Minnesota Vikings in the 2014 NFL Draft. The former Louisville star had a solid rookie season, throwing for 2,919 yards and 14 touchdowns compared to 12 interceptions.
Bridgewater had a similar 2015 season, throwing for 3,231 yards and 14 touchdowns compared to only nine interceptions. More importantly, he made the only Pro Bowl team of his career. Unfortunately, the former first-round pick suffered a severe knee injury before the start of the 2016 season, putting his career in jeopardy.
The veteran quarterback missed the 2016 season because of the knee injury. Furthermore, he played sparingly in 2017. After four years with the Vikings, Bridgewater has bounced around the NFL as a backup quarterback. The former first-round pick has spent time with the New Orleans Saints, Carolina Panthers, Denver Broncos, and Miami Dolphins over the past four years.

What Did Teddy Bridgewater Accomplish In 2022?
Last year Bridgewater signed a one-year deal with the Dolphins to be Tua Tagovailoa’s backup. However, the veteran saw the field as Tagovailoa struggled to stay healthy. The former first-round pick completed 62% of his pass attempts for 683 yards and four touchdowns last year in five games.
While he was solid filling in for Tagovailoa, Miami replaced Bridgewater with Mike White this offseason. The Dolphins signed the former New York Jets quarterback to a two-year deal worth up to $16 million. Unfortunately, that means Bridgewater will play for his fifth team in the past five years in 2023.
Which Teams Could Sign Teddy Bridgewater?
The fact that the veteran quarterback remains unsigned is surprising. Bridgewater has started 65 games in his NFL career and is an excellent locker room presence. However, he should find a new home no later than after the 2023 NFL Draft.
Some teams might wait to see how the draft shakes out before signing the veteran as their backup quarterback. One potential landing spot is the Los Angeles Rams. They lost Bake Mayfield in free agency and currently don’t have a backup quarterback on the roster. If the team doesn’t draft a suitable backup quarterback, Bridgewater would be an appealing option for Los Angeles.
Another potential landing spot is the Arizona Cardinals. Kyler Murray will miss part of the 2023 season recovering from a torn ACL. Meanwhile, Colt McCoy is the current starter on the depth chart. Bridgewater could compete with McCoy for the starting role until Murray is healthy.
