The 2023 NFL Draft is only a few months away. While all the talk on social media has been about the quarterbacks, there are plenty of talented running backs in the draft this year.
One of those running backs is Syracuse’s Sean Tucker. While he won’t be a first-round pick, the star running back will be an excellent Day 2 pick for an NFL team.
The former Syracuse star running back had a productive college career before declaring for the 2023 NFL Draft in December.

What Did Sean Tucker Do In His College Career?
Tucker hit the ground runner at Syracuse. In his first year, the running back had 626 rushing yards and four touchdowns on only 137 rushing attempts. He then turned into a superstar for the Orange.
Over the next two years, Tucker had 452 rushing attempts for 2,556 yards and 23 touchdowns. He averaged 5.7 yards per rushing attempt during that span, totaling at least 1,000 yards and 10 touchdowns in both seasons.
Furthermore, he played a meaningful role in the passing game over the past two years. Tucker had 56 receptions for 509 receiving yards and four touchdowns during that span. His 36 receptions in 2022 were a career-high and the second-most on the team.
More importantly, the star running back showed outstanding agility and speed during his college career. Whether it’s on the ground or in the passing game, Tucker is dangerous in the open field.
Which Team Could Pick Sean Tucker In The 2023 NFL Draft?
While Texas’ Bijan Robinson and Alabama’s Jahmyr Gibbs will be the first two running backs drafted in April, Tucker has a chance to be the third one picked and a Day 2 selection.
One potential landing spot is the Cincinnati Bengals. Joe Mixon had a disappointing 2022 season, averaging only 58.1 rushing yards per game and 3.9 yards per rushing attempt. If the Bengals decide to move on from the veteran running back, they can save up to $10 million.
Another possible landing spot for Tucker is Denver Broncos. Javonte Williams suffered a severe knee injury last year and likely won’t be 100% until the 2024 season. Furthermore, new head coach Sean Payton liked using multiple running backs during his time with the New Orleans Saints. Pairing Tucker with Williams would give Denver an excellent 1-2 punch at running back.
