The 2023 NFL Draft is less than 72 hours away, and the rumor mill is on fire. Everyone is trying to determine which player their favorite team will pick or where their favorite college player will land.
Furthermore, fantasy football players are excited to see where the prospects get drafted and how it impacts the veterans already on the roster. Unfortunately, the 2023 NFL Draft lacks a superstar wide receiver prospect.
While Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Jordan Addison, and Zay Flowers are likely first-round picks, which wide receivers will get drafted on Friday and have an impact in the NFL? One of those prospects is North Carolina’s Josh Downs.

What Did Josh Downs Accomplish In College?
The former North Carolina Tar Heel had a quiet freshman season, totaling only seven receptions for 119 yards. However, he did score three touchdowns off those seven receptions. Meanwhile, Downs broke out in 2021.
As a sophomore, Downs had 101 receptions for 1,335 receiving yards and eight touchdowns. The Tar Heel star finished first in the ACC in receptions and second in receiving yards. Despite losing Sam Howell to the NFL, Downs had a successful junior season.
Downs ended the 2022 season with 94 receptions for 1,029 receiving yards and 11 touchdowns. His 11 receiving touchdowns were the second-most in the ACC and the seventh-most in the entire country. More importantly, the former Tar Heel showed excellent route-running ability, especially from the slot.
Which Team Could Pick Josh Downs In The 2023 NFL Draft?
After three years at North Carolina, Downs declared for the 2023 NFL Draft. While no one projects him as a first-round pick, there is an outside chance the former Tar Heel star wide receiver gets drafted Thursday night.
The Buffalo Bills really like Downs, according to Peter King. Buffalo has the 27th overall pick in the first round and a massive need at the slot receiver position after releasing Isaiah McKenzie this offseason.
Another potential landing spot is the Dallas Cowboys. Downs met with the team last week. While the Cowboys added Brandin Cooks, that won’t stop them from adding more weapons during the 2023 NFL Draft. After struggling to pass the ball to anyone not named CeeDee Lamb last season, Jerry Jones has publicly stated the need to add weapons this offseason.
