Following their 4-13 record in 2021, the New York Giants cleaned house. After firing Joe Judge and Dave Gettleman, the team hired Brian Daboll and Joe Schoen.
In their first year in New York, the duo led the team to a 9-7-1 record and their first playoff appearance since 2016. The Giants won their first-round matchup against the Minnesota Vikings, 31-24.
Unfortunately, they got destroyed by the Philadelphia Eagles on Saturday, 38-7. However, fans must be happy, given the team’s overall success in the first year of a rebuilding process.

What Draft Picks Do The New York Giants Own?
Following their second-round exit from the playoffs, the Giants will have the 25th overall pick in the first round of the 2023 NFL Draft.
Overall the Giants have 11 picks in this year’s draft, including four in the top 100 selections. They have their original picks plus a compensatory third-round pick from the Kansas City Chiefs. New York got that third-rounder and a sixth-round pick for Kadarius Toney.
The Giants should also get two compensatory picks after losing Lorenzo Carter and Keion Crossen last offseason in free agency. The team should get a sixth-round pick for Carter and a seventh-round choice for Crossen.
Who Could The New York Giants Draft In The First Round?
New York made the playoffs despite their struggles in the passing game. The Giants dealt with injuries at the position, as Wan’Dale Robinson and Sterling Shepard played a combined nine games this year. Furthermore, Darius Slayton was the only player on the team with over 570 receiving yards this season.
Meanwhile, Isaiah Hodgins led New York in receiving touchdowns in 2022 with four. Yet, the second-year receiver didn’t join the team until Week 10. While Robinson should be ready for the start of the next season, the Giants need to add a No. 1 caliber wide receiver in the offseason. One potential draft target in Ohio State’s Jaxon Smith-Njigba.
While he struggled with injuries this past season, the Buckeye receiver was a force in 2021. Despite playing behind Garrett Wilson and Chris Olave, Smith-Njigba had 95 receptions for 1,606 receiving yards and nine touchdowns a year ago.
Pairing Smith-Njigba with Robinson and Hodgins would give Daniel Jones three young receivers to grow with for the next several years.
