The Kansas City Chiefs did it again, beating the 49ers 25-22 via a walk-off Mecole Hardman Jr. overtime touchdown to win their second-straight title and third in five years. Despite experiencing the most turbulent season of the Patrick Mahomes era, the Chiefs played stout defense with timely offense to knock off the Dolphins, Bills, Ravens, and then 49ers.
Despite all the success Kansas City has had, they have real areas to improve heading into the offseason. They do enter free agency with around $22 million in cap space, but key defensive contributors L'Jarius Sneed and Chris Jones are due for new contracts. With Jones projected by PFF to command $30 million annually and Sneed projected to get $17.5 million, the Chiefs would have to get creative to pay both players.

What Draft Picks Do The Kansas City Chiefs Own?
The Chiefs have six draft picks before the NFL awards 32 compensatory picks during the offseason. Kansas City’s first-round pick is 32nd overall, and they have all their own picks from rounds one to four.
Their fifth-round pick in 2024 was traded at last year's draft, and their sixth-round pick was sent to the Raiders for defensive tackle Neil Farrell Jr. To recoup some capital, the Chiefs received a fifth-round pick from Dallas for this draft after the Cowboys moved up in last year's draft. Houston Texans safety Lonnie Johnson was traded to Kansas City for a conditional seventh-round pick, but he didn't end up making the roster, leaving the pick with the Chiefs.
Who Could The Kansas City Chiefs Draft In The First Round?
The most glaring need on the roster from last year is at wide receiver, as it was a struggle all season to create separation and make plays consistently. Rookie second-round pick Rashee Rice came on strong to end the season, but he was rarely used as a route runner who could stretch the defense downfield. Adding someone reliable downfield alongside Travis Kelce with Mahomes would take this offense back to its unstoppable ways.
If they elect to go the receiver route, Keon Coleman, Troy Franklin, Ladd McConkey, and Adonai Mitchell are the most likely options for their draft position. All four are capable of making plays downfield and they could add the missing element to this Kansas City offense.
While most fans will be clamoring for a receiver, the Chiefs could also look to go with an edge rusher here to try and fill the void of Chris Jones' sack production if they cannot agree to a deal. Either way, Kansas City is very likely to address the receiver room with one of their first few picks.
