Injuries from Week 1 derailed the Cleveland Browns' 2023 season, but the weekly grit and magic from Joe Flacco led to an 11-6 season and head coach Kevin Stefanski's second Coach of the Year Award. Losing Nick Chubb in Week 2 and playing 11 games without Deshaun Watson explains their offense finishing 28th in offensive DVOA, but their second-ranked defensive DVOA led by DPOY Myles Garrett looked championship-ready for most of the season.
At the moment, the Browns are $19 million over the cap, but the cash spending of their ownership allows for extensive restructures, which will give them the ability to spend where they need to. Luckily for them, Za'Darius Smith is their biggest name on the free agent market and they might be able to make room to afford his projected $12 million annually.
What draft picks do the Browns have in the 2024 NFL Draft? Who could they take with their second-round pick? Let's find out.

What Draft Picks Do The Cleveland Browns Own?
The Browns have seven draft picks before the NFL awards 32 compensatory picks during the offseason. Cleveland’s first pick is 55th overall in the second round, and every pick other than their second- and third-round picks is from other teams.
For starters, the Texans own Cleveland's first- and fourth-round picks in this upcoming draft from the Watson trade, and a sixth-round pick came back to the Browns as well. They added fifth-round picks in the Joshua Dobbs and Baker Mayfield trades, but lost one in the Smith trade with Minnesota.

Cleveland also brought in a sixth-round pick from a trade with the Ravens where they sent a seventh-round pick from 2023. Finally, Cleveland moved back from the sixth-round to the seventh-round at the Falcons spot from the Deion Jones trade a year ago.
Who Could The Cleveland Browns Draft In The Second Round?
Outside of Amari Cooper, the Browns lacked another wide receiver who could give them consistent production. Elijah Moore had his moments in 2023, but he got off to a slow start as they were trying to figure out the best way to utilize him. Ideally, Cleveland needs a true slot threat who can stretch the field and give them another spot they have receivers winning at other than the outside with Cooper.
If the Browns elect to go with receivers, Ja'Lynn Polk, Xavier Worthy, and Xavier Legette all are options at number 55, and they all have a good amount of reps in college playing in the slot. Other than that, interior defensive line would be another area they could target as Shelby Harris and Jordan Elliott are free agents coming off a year playing 40 percent of the team's snaps each. In that case, Braden Fiske and T'Vondre Sweat would be good looks for them.

While they don't have any first-round picks, the Browns have done a great job adding starters recently outside of the first round of the draft. They don't have many glaring needs for starters at the moment, so it will be interesting to see which direction the front office takes this offseason.
