New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson wowed everyone at his pro day in 2021 with a precision deep pass across the field while fading to the left. That, combined with his 73.5% completion percentage and nearly 3,700 passing yards in 2020 at BYU, led to him being picked No. 2 overall in the 2021 NFL Draft.
However, Wilson hasn't played well in the NFL, which led to the Jets benching him in 2022 and planning on replacing him with Aaron Rodgers this season. After Rodgers got injured in Week 1, Wilson became the starter, but he was benched again in Week 11. Poor play by the other Jets' backups led to Wilson being reinserted into the starting lineup in Week 14, but then he got hurt in Week 15, too.
When is Zach Wilson coming back to action? What is Zach Wilson's fantasy football outlook when he returns? Let's dive in.

Zach Wilson: Latest Injury Update - December 28
The Jets have a short week ahead of a Thursday Night Football matchup against the Cleveland Browns, and Wilson (concussion) hasn't had enough time to recover and get through concussion protocol. Wilson has officially been ruled out, and Trevor Siemian has been announced as the Jets' starting quarterback.
Zach Wilson: Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Zach Wilson left the game in Week 15 with a head injury shortly after getting sacked by Bradley Chubb in the Dolphins' 30-0 victory over the Jets on December 17.
Wilson's mother shared an Instagram story in which she said that her son was suffering from blurred vision but that he wanted to keep playing. However, the NFL is serious about putting players with symptoms of concussions through the step-by-step protocol.
After the loss to the Dolphins, head coach Robert Saleh said, “I’m not sure about the process. From my understanding, it was called up top and he is now in the protocol.”
Zach Wilson Fantasy Football Outlook
According to neurologists, it takes the average person about 7-10 days to recover from suffering a concussion, and according to data from the 2022 season, it takes NFL players about nine days to recover. Many players end up missing the next week.
Wilson did miss Week 16, and Trevor Siemian had to start for the Jets. He completed 27-of-49 passes for 217 yards, one touchdown, and one interception.
Now, Wilson is set to miss Week 17, too. Because the game is on Thursday, he didn't have a full week to recover. If he does recover in time for Week 18, Wilson could start against the New England Patriots. But Wilson struggled against the Patriots in Week 3, only throwing for 157 yards and no touchdowns.
Neither Wilson nor Siemian are quality fantasy starts this week or next.
