Los Angeles Rams tight end Tyler Higbee (knee) tore his ACL and MCL in the Wild Card round of the NFL playoffs last season on January 14, 2024. Predictably, he hasn't been featured in a game yet this season. As the year wears on, though, the likelihood of his return continues to grow.
The Rams have opted to run most of their offense through wide receivers Puka Nacua and Cooper Kupp and running back Kyren Williams in Higbee's absence. That may not change much for the rest of the season, but a good tight end can always help create more mismatches and boost an offense.
So when will Higbee return?

Tyler Higbee Injury Update
He's 31 years old and coming off a season-ending injury that he picked up in the playoffs. While a previous update indicated that he was ahead of schedule in his recovery, there's skepticism that he'll play at all this season. It seems unlikely that he suits up for the regular season considering his age and the timing of the injury.
Players still on PUP 🩼#KeepPounding RB Jonathon Brooks (ACL) - Still only 11 months out from injury 🐢 #RamsHouse TE Tyler Higbee (ACL + MCL) - Still only 9 months out, real chance he misses whole season #RavensFlock RB Keaton Mitchell (ACL) - Only 9.5 months out, tough…

Anything soon is highly unlikely. He still hasn't reached 10 months since the date of the injury, and that would be an aggressive timetable for his return.
Tyler Higbee Fantasy Football Outlook
Fantasy managers shouldn't expect much from him even if he does return. It's possible the team could slowly work him in over the past few weeks of the season and use him more prominently if they make a playoff run. A path to fantasy relevance any time before Week 17, the week most leagues have their championship game, is unlikely.

In the meantime, you can pray that your star tight end doesn't have to face Brian Branch or Kerby Joseph of the Detroit Lions. T.J. Hockenson owners beware.
