Week 8 is here, and Tennessee Titans head coach Brian Callahan has said there is a chance for running back Tyjae Spears to return to action after suffering a hamstring injury in their Week 6 contest against the Indianapolis Colts.
After getting a lot of hype in the fantasy football community this offseason, Spears has had a relatively slow start with 33 rush attempts for 114 yards and one touchdown to go with 12 receptions for 76 yards. On top of that, veteran Tony Pollard appears to have taken over the backfield.
It’s been a rough ride for fantasy managers who were riding high on the hopes of a Spears breakout in 2024, but nonetheless, when should we expect Spears to be back on the field on Sundays?

Tyjae Spears Fantasy Football Injury Update
It's been a rough year for Tennessee Titans fans and anyone who invested heavily in their offense for fantasy purposes. Quarterback Will Levis has been inconsistent, and we haven't seen much juice from the offense as a whole. Currently, the Titans sit at 1-5 on the season and just traded away wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins to the Kansas City Chiefs.
Meanwhile, the team let former All-Pro running back Derrick Henry leave in free agency only to sign with Baltimore where he's got a strong chance to win the rushing title.

There is a chance that Spears will be able to suit up against the Detroit Lions in Week 8, but given the difficulty in that matchup, you are better off keeping him on your bench anyway.
Tyjae Spears Fantasy Football Injury Impact
Spears tweaked his hamstring back in Week 6 versus the Colts and had to sit out last Sunday’s showdown against the Bills. Talk about timing! Pollard had to dip out for a hot minute to get checked for a concussion, bumping Julius Chestnut up to the spotlight as the Titans’ main man on the ground--well, at least for a brief flicker of time.
Pollard did bounce back into the game, but all eyes are on Spears now. He didn’t hit the practice field at all last week, so if we see him even just easing into a limited practice by Wednesday, that’s a good sign. Spears might just be tuning up to dash back onto the field sooner rather than later; fingers crossed.

Right now, Spears is only rostered in about 50% of fantasy leagues, and it's understandable why many fantasy managers have grown frustrated with him.
We should temper our expectations moving forward, but he's still worth a spot on your roster due to his serious pass-catching chops, especially if you can stash him on Injured Reserve and not take up another roster spot for the time being.
