Jacksonville Jaguars quarterback Trevor Lawrence (shoulder) couldn't play in Week 9 due to an injury. With the Jags now 2-8, questions have been swirling about his potential availability for the rest of the season. It doesn't make much sense to risk a high draft pick and potentially re-aggravate his current injury.
It's been a lopsided season for Jacksonville, and it's not necessarily Lawrence's fault. The defense has been absolutely dreadful, allowing the sixth-most points per game and ranking in the bottom 10 in total yards per game to opposing offenses. It's already looking like a lost season.
So when will Lawrence return? Will he be out for the season? Here is the latest injury update.

Trevor Lawrence Injury Update
Lawrence has what's been described as a "serious AC joint sprain" in his left shoulder. While it's possible he could play through the injury, there would be a big risk of re-aggravation. Because of this, and possibly also because of the Jags record, there is a chance he could miss the remainder of the season, per NFL Insider Dianna Russini.

This is one of those "we won't know until we know" situations, but it's noteworthy that teams are much more likely to shut down their injured star players if there's no hope of the team making a playoff run. And at 2-8, that's borderline impossible. The defense is too poor for TLaw to prop up, and they'd need to win out to even have a chance.
Trevor Lawrence Fantasy Football Outlook
It looks like we won't see him again this season. It's a shame for football fans and fantasy managers, as he was an excellent option in 2QB leagues. His replacement, former New England Patriots QB Mac Jones, doesn't look like he'll be a great option, and the whole offense will take a big hit.
🚨NEW BREAKDOWN🚨
Trevor Lawrence only finished with 162 passing yards, but his first half was full of high-level throws.

Lawrence has been much maligned by the media, but he's a good signal-caller. He's had to play through awful coaching -- head coach Doug Pederson and offensive coordinator Press Taylor should not have their jobs right now -- and the defense has done him no favors, consistently putting him in unfavorable positions.
He's had a lot on his shoulders, and he's played well when given the opportunity. But we may have to wait another season to see him again, and hopefully with new coaches and an improved defense. He, running back Tank Bigsby, wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr., and tight end Evan Engram can form a nice group of offensive leaders in 2025.
