T.J. Hockenson Injury Update for Fantasy Football
Hockenson took a hit to his legs in the third quarter against Detroit and limped off of the field. It turns out that was the final play of his season. Hockenson tore both his ACL and MCL.
Hockenson finishes the season with 95 receptions for 960 yards and five touchdowns. At the time of the injury, he was the TE1 in fantasy football. Travis Kelce and Sam LaPorta will surely jump him, while George Kittle and Evan Engram could do so as well.
T.J. Hockenson Fantasy Football Outlook
During training camp, Hockenson essentially held a "hold in" as he looked for a new contract. Demanding a long-term deal was the right call. He's now under contract through 2027 with the Minnesota Vikings.
Hockenson's stock takes a slight hit in dynasty and keeper formats. Without that contract, there would be a plethora of questions about his future. At least we know he'll be a member of the Vikings next season.
This injury will linger into the 2024-25 season. Hockenson could be ready for Week 1 (we've seen stranger things when it comes to major injury recoveries), but there's a higher likelihood that he'll be hampered in training camp and possibly into the regular season.
Josh Oliver and Johnny Mundt are the tight ends listed behind Hockenson on the depth chart. Oliver will likely get most of the snaps, but he's not worth rostering in fantasy football.
