Miami Dolphins running back Raheem Mostert (knee/ankle) has consistently popped up on the injury report almost every week. He has been dealing with ankle and knee issues this season. He usually receives some veteran rest, a limited practice or two, and then delivers huge fantasy weeks which helped take fantasy managers to their fantasy championship games.
Then, all of a sudden in Week 17, Mostert wasn't progressing the same way he usually was in previous weeks. Reports were not coming out that he was upgraded or participating more in practice. Instead of helping fantasy managers win, he was downgraded to inactive for an important game against the Baltimore Ravens.
So, when is Mostert coming back to action? What is his fantasy football outlook when he returns? Let's discuss whether or not he'll be available for fantasy leagues that play through Week 18.

Raheem Mostert Latest Injury Update - January 1
Mostert (knee/ankle) suffered a new ankle injury in Week 16 instead of just dealing with the same ankle soreness that he's experienced for most of the season. He wasn't able to get a full practice in leading up to the Dolphins' Week 17 game against the Ravens. He only registered one limited practice last week.
Head coach Mike McDaniel said on Monday that he didn't intend to mislead reporters on Mostert's status, so it seems like the team knew he wasn't progressing as much as they would like. After taking the loss in Week 17, the Dolphins need to get a win over the Buffalo Bills in Week 18 to win the AFC East. With that being said, they'll likely take all precautions they can to get Mostert on the field in a game that has huge playoff-seeding implications.
Raheem Mostert Injury Update for Fantasy Football
The veteran running back originally started dealing with knee and ankle issues around halfway through the season but suffered a new ankle injury in Miami's Week 16 win over the Dallas Cowboys. Throughout the week, leading up to their Week 17 road game in Baltimore, Mostert was only able to practice on Friday in a limited fashion.
After being listed as questionable on Friday, reports started to come out that he wasn't expected to play. Finally, he was ruled out before kickoff without an official update on whether or not this was going to cause him to miss extended time. So, this leads one to think it could be a short absence.
Raheem Mostert Fantasy Football Outlook
Raheem Mostert ended up as the RB2 through 17 weeks. At the age of 31, he beat his previous career-high of eight rushing touchdowns by 10 and collected 21 total touchdowns with 1012 yards on the ground and 175 yards through the air. His previous career high in rushing yards was 891 which came last season.
If Mostert progresses as expected in the final week of the season, then he should make his way back to fantasy rosters no matter the fantasy league format. He would be considered an RB1 with RB2 value at worst. Tyreek Hill may have been the biggest part of this offense, but Mostert has been a close second. That's not going to change in the final game of the season. It also happens to be a must-win game to take the division crown.
