Over his sterling six-year career, Nick Chubb has proven himself to be one of the NFL's best pure rushers. He's amassed 6,511 rushing yards during his time with the Cleveland Browns.
Unfortunately, Chubb wasn't able to significantly add to that total in 2023, as he went down in Week 2 with an ugly injury that impacted his ACL, MCL, and meniscus. The Browns running back missed the remainder of the 2023 campaign and his outlook for the upcoming season remains cloudy.
Is Nick Chubb still injured? When will Chubb return from injury? Let's discuss the latest Nick Chubb injury news and his 2024 fantasy football outlook.

Nick Chubb Injury Update for Fantasy Football
In Week 2 of the 2023 season, Nick Chubb tore the MCL in his left knee, which had already been repaired once from a similar injury in his second season at Georgia (torn MCL, PCL, and LCL), as well as his ACL and meniscus. It was a gruesome injury and one that has required a lengthy rehab process.

Despite the significance of the injury, optimism around Chubb's return began to spread when a viral video of the running back squatting over 540 pounds went viral in mid-July.
Though Chubb's recovery from last year's season-ending injury appears to be well ahead of schedule, the Cleveland Browns have elected to be patient with their star running back. The club has officially announced that Chubb will start the 2024 season on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) List, which means he will at least miss the first four games of the regular season.
Nick Chubb 2024 Fantasy Football Outlook
While there is certainly a path to Chubb being a relevant fantasy producer in 2024, it would probably be wise to temper expectations. Browns back Jerome Ford played well in relief of Chubb last season and will open the year as Cleveland's starter with Pierre Strong Jr. and D'Onta Foreman adding depth to the backfield.

Chubb is guaranteed to miss the first four games of the season after being placed on the PUP List. However, that doesn't necessarily mean he'll automatically be a full go in Week 5. Most likely, Cleveland will ease the 29-year-old back into the offense whenever he's ultimately cleared to return from last year's devastating injury.
The temptation to take a late-round flier on Chubb in fantasy drafts is understandable, as he's been a rock-solid source of rushing production throughout his career. He should be viewed as a long-term stash for the moment. Managers who play in leagues with an IR roster spot can feel confident taking advantage of it with a player of Chubb's late-season potential but should be prepared for zero-to-minimal fantasy contributions from him for the first half of the season.
