Every season, Philadelphia Phillies designated hitter Kyle Schwarber struggles right out of the gate, and year after year, fantasy managers overreact. In 2024, Schwarber entered May with a .202 batting average, eight home runs, 17 RBI, and 46 strikeouts.
However, the left-handed slugger really picked it up in June. From June 1 to June 27, Schwarber hit .267 (24-for-90) with six HRs, four doubles, and 14 RBI through 23 games. The designated hitter was injured on June 27 and immediately went on the 10-day injured list.
So, when will Schwarber return and be back? Let's dive in and find out.

Kyle Schwarber Injury Update for Fantasy Baseball
Schwarber has stayed relatively healthy over the past few years, playing 155 games in 2022 and 160 games in 2023. He'll fall short of those marks in 2024, as he was placed on the injured list on June 27 due to a groin strain.
The veteran was attempting to make a throw in the outfield on June 27 when he felt a "grab" as he planted his leg. He was eventually removed from the game, and the Phillies immediately placed him on the IL. However, Schwarber should be activated from the IL on Tuesday, July 9.

He ran the bases before Saturday's game against the Atlanta Braves, and reports said that "all went well." With that being the last hurdle in his recovery, Schwarber is expected to return to the lineup on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Dodgers -- the first day he is eligible to return from the IL.
Kyle Schwarber Fantasy Baseball Outlook
Schwarber has been one of the best power hitters since he entered the league in 2015. He hit 16 HRs across 69 games with the Chicago Cubs in his rookie season before launching a career-high 47 long balls last year with the Phillies.
While Schwarber might strike out a ton, he makes up for it by posting elite power numbers at the plate. He has hit 45-plus HRs in back-to-back seasons for the first time. In those two years, the 31-year-old also brought in 198 RBI while totaling 40 doubles and 10 stolen bases.

Bryce Harper will run again tomorrow. He is not far behind Schwarber. Tuesday might be in play, but he is still a step or two behind Schwarber.

When Schwarber returns to the Phillies lineup on Tuesday, fantasy managers should immediately place him back in their starting outfielder/designated hitter spot. He is one of the most valuable players in fantasy, considering he'll likely finish with around 40 HRs again in 2024. If you can somehow buy low on him in fantasy before he is activated from the IL, it could be a league-winning move.
