Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen was one of the top fantasy options throughout the entire season. Through Week 14, Allen was a top-three fantasy wideout while averaging a whopping 21.5 fantasy points per game. He realistically carried fantasy managers to the playoffs in 2023.
However, since Justin Herbert (finger) was ruled out for the year, we haven't seen Allen on the field. The 31-year-old veteran is dealing with a heel issue and missed the past two contests due to that injury.
So, when will Allen return and be back? Will he return in Week 17? Let's dive in.

Keenan Allen Injury Update
Allen popped up on the injury report later in the year with a heel injury. But he still managed to practice and play through it in every game. However, everything changed when Herbert fractured his right index finger in Week 14, ultimately ending the Chargers' season.
Since then, Allen has missed every practice leading up to Week 15 and Week 16. The veteran was also a non-participant in Wednesday's practice this week.
At this point, there's no reason to believe that Allen will be available for Week 17 against the Denver Broncos. The Chargers have been eliminated from playoff contention, and playing the 10-year veteran would make no sense for a team that isn't playing for anything.
Keenan Allen Fantasy Football Outlook
If Allen were to miraculously practice this week and play on Sunday, it would be hard to sit him in the fantasy football championship. Even with Easton Stick under center, the 31-year-old wideout should see enough volume to have a safe floor in Week 17.
When Stick took over for Herbert in Week 14 following the finger injury, he did look Allen's way early and often. In that contest, the wideout had zero catches through 27 minutes of game action with Herbert. But when Stick came in, he immediately hit the veteran for a three-yard pass.
Allen went on to finish that game with six catches for 68 yards on 12 targets. Of course, the quarterback play is a step down from Herbert. But if he is active in Week 17, you should be starting him in the biggest week of the fantasy season.
