Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase has not been in contention for the No. 1 overall fantasy receiver in 2023 like most had hoped for. However, he's still been ultra-productive and delivered huge spike weeks. After 15 weeks of action, the third-year pro ranks sixth in total fantasy points among wideouts.
Unfortunately, Joe Burrow suffered a season-ending wrist injury a few weeks ago, and Chase is now dealing with an injury of his own. It's unfortunate timing in the fantasy football playoffs.
When will Chase return to action? What's his fantasy outlook upon his return? Let's examine his latest injury updates.

Ja'Marr Chase Injury Update for Fantasy Football
According to sources, Chase (shoulder) will likely miss some time after undergoing an MRI exam on his separated shoulder on Monday. Chase is expected to be sidelined for this Saturday's game against the division-rival Pittsburgh Steelers in Week 16, and his absence could extend beyond that, too. It's pretty bad news for the Bengals as they chase a playoff spot in the AFC and Chase's fantasy managers with the semifinals and finals upcoming in most leagues.
The 23-year-old suffered an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder in Saturday's overtime win over the Minnesota Vikings. Fantasy managers should plan to be without him for at least this week. If Chase is ultimately ruled out, Tee Higgins and Tyler Boyd will see more targets, while rookie running back Chase Brown should remain heavily involved in the short passing game.
Ja'Marr Chase Fantasy Football Outlook
If Chase is surprisingly active against the Steelers on Saturday, he should be started in all leagues. Although there would be some injury risk, his upside will continue to make him a must-start. The Steelers are a neutral matchup for receivers, and Jake Browning has proven capable of playing quarterback at a high level.
The same thing goes for Week 17. If fantasy managers can survive during his potential absence, he should be started in the championship round of the fantasy football playoffs.
Sadly, there's a chance he will miss both of those contests.
