San Francisco 49ers running back Isaac Guerendo (hamstring) was looking like a sure-fire league-winner after a highly impressive performance in Week 14. He carried the ball 15 times for 78 yards and two touchdowns and caught both his targets for 50 receiving yards in the blowout win.
Unfortunately, due to injury, he wasn't able to play last week. In his place, fourth-string back Patrick Taylor Jr. performed poorly, running eight times for just 24 yards and catching only one of his five targets for a meager one receiving yard. SF was eliminated from playoff contention with the loss to the Miami Dolphins.
When will the rookie be able to come back?

Isaac Guerendo Injury Update
There's some good news on this front. According to 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan, Guerendo is expected to practice this week. Of course, Shanahan has a poor track record regarding honesty about his players' injuries, but this one will be easy to confirm -- we'll obviously know his practice statuses before SF's next game.
INJURY UPDATE: Isaac Guerendo (hamstring) expected to practice later this week per Kyle Shanahan
— The Fantasy Source (@FantasySource_) December 24, 2024
He's dealing with a hamstring injury. The foot issue he was previously dealing with is no listed with him on the team's injury report, so we can assume that's healed. Counterpoint -- Kyle Shanahan, obviously, is blatantly dishonest with his injury reporting. Still, we can only go by what we know.
It's not unreasonable to be optimistic about the freshman back's return on Monday Night Football.
Isaac Guerendo Fantasy Football Outlook
When healthy, he's a must-start stud running back. His ridiculous burst and size combination make him a nightmare for opposing linebackers to deal with. It's hard to say if he'll be 100% in a hypothetical Week 17 return, though.

It's easy to see why he's produced so well if you turn on the tape. Speed kills. We'd recommend starting him in Week 17 if he's able to take the field again, though the 9ers season is over, so it's hard to say how Shanahan will use his players moving forward.
